Campfire
47
Silly girl put you imagination away, tend the fire
My thoughts are tending another fire
Breathe life back into it
Like has been done to me
Focus here, stoke it up lest it goes out
This other burns, beckoning bright
The embers are your charge and they diminish
But this fire builds and burns in my belly
There the flames are growing now
I see the hot tongues lick the damp beams
Stop, focus on the heat, devouring the wood
Yes licking, devouring, wood
Hopeless lusty poet you are beyond reason
Mesmerizing flames rhythmically sway
No! smoldering ash and sparkling cinders fly
Yes I’m smoldering, and sparks fly from me
Can’t you just look at a fire and let it be a fire
Steady burning, long, strong, timbers
I’m defeated, keeping your mind clean exhausts me
Release me to play amongst the fiery coals, let me toast

I was right with you. I love the battle between the two fires. The right fire won!

Powerful
Fantastic! Hot yet not hot enough. I loved it!
Great poem, (and I don't know what happened to the previous comment). Great metaphors.
Definitely...illustrating heat from this "Campfire"...Well done...as usual, RB!
I'm taking notes RB! You can put things into words that I only dream of saying! Although I doubt 'Hallmark' has a category for them in their card selection. Their loss. I enjoy your writing!
RandyB...glad you bring the humor and wit right along with your "explosive" details to your poems...I was thinking that I might pun too much on previous comments...
Very descriptive , Randy, hahum, in every sense of the word.
Often, though I'm happy to say, the good has been winning lately. Yet the battle rages on...
Nice work, RB. You've certainly got a talent with words.
Let me guess, you assaulted your husband again? :D
I love the dialog style of this, original, and dare I say...HOT!
Metaphorically speaking, I.E. attack with the intent of love, not harm.
'scuse me. Oh, nothin. This? No, it's not gasoline. Honest.
You need a book, Missbehaves in a Randy-like manner. I truly enjoyed this, thanks for sharing it with us!
This is one of my alltime favorites from you....I see you through the flames.....you should add the Doors song "FIRE" as the background music to this one.
I like the inner battle that waged between the fire that smolders and fire that scorches. Great poem! Thanks for sharing :D
I liked it alot
can't you just look at a fire and let it be a fire
no because that would be a waste of a good fire
good game RB
What about lollipops?.....can a sucker just be a sucker....and is a cigar just a cigar?
.....I like all your work. Can't decide....I'll have to read them over just one more time :-)
